As a Data Engineer Team Lead at PAYBACK, you will play a pivotal role in driving our data-driven initiatives across Germany, Poland, Italy, and Austria. You will lead and mentor a team of data engineers in designing, developing, and maintaining our future cloud based data products on GCP, while also ensuring the smooth operation of existing on-premise systems running on an Oracle Exadata.
Your responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Oversee and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Empower, guide, and cultivate a positive team environment to achieve exceptional results
- Data Engineering:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes on GCP.
- Optimize data processing efficiency and performance using modern tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Data Governance:
- Ensure adherence to data quality standards and best practices.
- Implement data governance policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
- Cloud Migration:
- Drive and support the migration of existing on-premise data products into the cloud (GCP).
- Ensure a seamless transition and optimize cloud-based infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Technology Stack:
- Proficient in Python, Oracle PL/SQL, Airflow and Git
- Comfortable with Terraform, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, Java, and Kafka.
- Experienced with Google Cloud Services (BigQuery, Cloud Build, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, DataFlow).
Your Profile:
- 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Proven experience leading data engineering teams.
- Strong technical skills in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
